Salem People’s Trust (SPT) envisages a participatory process for equitable and holistic development of children of Dalit communities towards achieving its people’s governance. Their operations are spread over 32 villages in 16 panchayats covering two blocks namely – Ayothiapattinam and Vazhapadi, in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu. Being a local organization, they have received recognition and acknowledgement from the local community in the districts and thus they can reach out to the community more effectively in building ownership on issues. The primarily focus of SPT is to release and rehabilitate child labour and bonded labor in the agricultural sector. Over the years of partnership with CRY, SPT’s efforts have brought about a lot of changes in lives of children in the area.
